Elaine Khoong, MD MS is in her second year of internal medicine residency at the primary care program at San Francisco General Hospital at University of California San Francisco (UCSF). After graduating from the Illinois Mathematics & Science Academy, she attended the University of Pennsylvania where she majored in business and engineering. Before entering medical school at Washington University in St. Louis, Khoong taught high school science in Chicago as a Teach For America corps member. During her time as a teacher, she cemented her desire to work in under-resourced urban communities as a primary care physician. In the future, she hopes to not only practice as a clinician but also to research and implement strategies to deliver better health care to urban populations.
